Illegal Export of Russian Timber under Export Ban Decreases


According to the report of Russian satellite news agency on sputniknews, the acting director of the Irkutsk Oblast investigation bureau of the Russian investigation commission, Demitri vastiyanov said that law enforcement agencies had successfully stopped the large-scale timber smuggling from Irkutsk Oblast to China, however, some illegal situations still occur.

Vajyanov said in an interview with satellite news agency: "Now we see this kind of criminal behavior (illegal export of Russian timber) showing a downward trend. First of all, it has been difficult to transport illegally harvested timber into other countries through customs. However, this situation still happens, and we have a reaction to it, but the previous large-scale smuggling has disappeared."
