Vietnam's Furniture Export Is Expected to Exceed US $15 Billion in 2021

Vietnam's furniture export is expected to exceed US $15 billion in 2021

vietnam's investment Daily reported on June 16 that relevant departments in Vietnam predicted that if the export of wood and wood products exceeded US $15 billion in 2021, it would set a record and far exceed the level in 2020.

With this record, the export volume of wood and wood products in 2021will be 13.6 times that of 2004, with an average annual growth of 10.2%. It is higher than the average growth rate of national exports and the average annual growth rate of other major export commodities.

This forecast is based on a variety of bases, among which **is based on the fact that the export of wood and wood products reached US $3.788 billion in the first quarter of 2021, up year on year. The average monthly export is 1.263 billion dollars. Among them, exports reached US $1.512 billion in March. If the remaining months of 2021also reach this average, the total exports of timber and wood products will exceed 15 billion US dollars in the whole year, an increase of 21.2 percent year-on-year. If the trend continues in March, the annual export scale will be higher.

There are many factors affecting the above prediction, including input and output factors.

In terms of investment, the annual afforestation area reached 260000 hectares, and 33200 hectares in the first quarter of 2021, up 1.8 percent year-on-year. Wood harvesting reached a record of 16.91 million cubic meters, with nearly 3 million cubic meters in the first quarter of 2021, up 4% year on year. Imports of timber and timber products increased, with nearly 2.56 billion US dollars in 2020 and 0.729 billion US dollars in the first quarter of 2021, up year on year.

At the same time, there are 30 timber import markets in Vietnam, of which 10 are over 10 million US dollars, especially 0.226 billion US dollars from China, accounting for 31% of Vietnam's total timber import. There are 11000 timber processing enterprises in Vietnam, mainly producing beds, cabinets, chairs and so on. There are more than 500000 working workers, with a production and operation capital of about 320 trillion Yue shield and a net income of about 360 trillion Yue shield.

In terms of output, in the first quarter of 2021, there were 40 export markets of Vietnam's timber and wood products, of which 18 were more than 10 million dollars, especially 4 were more than 0.1 billion dollars. **The export volume of the United States in the market is 2.3 billion US dollars, followed by China's nearly 0.36 billion US dollars, Japan's 0.356 billion US dollars, and South Korea's nearly 0.21 billion US dollars.

However, Vietnam's exports of wood and wood products also face many problems that need to be solved urgently:

first of all, we should further develop export markets, especially Canada, Britain, Australia, Germany, France, Netherlands, Malaysia, Taiwan, Belgium, Denmark, Italy and other markets. Avoid putting eggs in a basket, where exports mainly depend on the U.S. market.

Secondly, the afforestation area should be plus-sized to reduce the damage to the Forest (116 hectares of forest destroyed by fire and 242 hectares destroyed by fire in the first quarter), which can not only ensure the supply of domestic raw materials, but also restrict imports (easy to encounter prices, market, origin, environmental protection and other risks) can also protect and improve the environment and solve employment problems.

In addition, we should expand the scale and strengthen the complementary advantages among enterprises to meet the demand of sharp increase in order quantity in some markets in the short term.
