Sealant has been widely used in curtain wall, doors and windows, hollow glass, interior decoration and other architectural fields, playing the role of bonding and sealing. In the application process, we will come into contact with the concepts of structural adhesive, hollow adhesive, weather proofing sealant, fireproof adhesive, etc. What are the effects of these different types of sealant? Sealant can be roughly divided into the following five categories according to its application: structural silicone sealant, weather-proof silicone sealant, ordinary silicone sealant, two-channel silicone sealant for hollow glass, and silicone sealant for special purposes.
I. Structural silicone sealant
Application: it is mainly used for structural bonding between glass and aluminum auxiliary frame (see figure 1), and also used for two-way sealing of hollow glass of hidden frame curtain wall.
Features: it bears wind load and gravity load, has high requirements on strength and aging resistance, and has certain requirements on elasticity.
II. Weather-proof silicone sealant
Purpose: Joint sealing (see figure 1) to ensure air tightness, water tightness and other properties.
Features: it needs to bear large joint width and narrow changes, with high elasticity (displacement capacity) and aging resistance requirements, no strength requirements, high modulus and low modulus.

III. Ordinary silicone sealant
Purpose: door and window joints, external wall joints and other sealing positions (see figure 2).
Features: it can withstand the wide and narrow changes of joints, and has certain displacement capacity requirements, and does not require strength.

4. Two-way silicone sealant for hollow glass
Purpose: insulating glass is sealed with two channels to ensure the structural stability of insulating glass (see figure 3).
Features: high modulus, not too soft, some have structural requirements.

V. Silicone sealant for special purposes
Application: used for joint sealing with special requirements, such as fire prevention (see figure 4), mildew prevention (see figure 5), etc.
Features: it must have certain special properties (such as mildew prevention, fire prevention, etc.).

How to glue doors and windows?
I have shared so much theoretical knowledge above. I think some friends in the door and window industry still have a basic understanding of the silicon sealant knowledge of doors and windows. However, if you really want to play the glue well, you have to communicate and learn with some masters, and finally you have to practice it in person.
Window gluing technique-window gluing method
When installing window frames on each floor, the lines should be pulled horizontally and vertically, and the levels of each floor should be consistent and straight up and down. When the window frame is fixed with the wall, fix the upper frame first, then fix the frame, and use plastic expansion bolts to fix it. The inner cavity of the expansion joint between the frame and the opening adopts closed-cell foam, foaming agent and other elastic materials fill plug, and the surface is sealed with sealant. The installation of doors and windows must be firm. The number, position and embedded connection method of embedded parts must meet the design requirements. The number of fasteners used to fix each reinforced steel should not be less than 3, and the spacing should not be more than 300mm, the distance from the end of section steel should not be greater than 100mm. When the doors and windows are installed, the ambient temperature should not be lower than 5℃. Holes with embedded iron parts should be fixed by welding, or first make base holes on embedded parts according to Fastener specifications, and then fix them with fasteners. When the splicing material is connected with the brick wall, the two ends of the splicing material should be inserted into the reserved hole first, and then the C20 fine stone concrete should be poured and fixed. The two window frames should be insulation displacement connection with the splicing materials. After insulation displacement connection, tighten them with fasteners in both directions, and the spacing should be ≤ 400mm. The gap between the end of the fastener and the splicing material and the window bar is sealed by sealing strip. When the doors and windows are connected with the wall by the embedded wood brick method, the wood brick should be treated with anti-corrosion. v
Window gluing skills-precautions for window gluing
The inner cavity of the expansion joint between the window frame and the opening should be layered fill plug with elastic materials such as closed-cell foam plastic and foamed polystyrene burning, and the surface should be sealed with sealant. For projects with high requirements of heat preservation and sound insulation, corresponding heat insulation and sound insulation materials should be adopted fill plug. The surface of doors and windows is clean, without scratches, bumps and rust. The coating surface is smooth, smooth, uniform in thickness and free of air holes. It is strictly forbidden to install scaffolding or hang heavy objects on the door and window frames, fans and mullions, and it is strictly forbidden to step on the window frames, Casement or window mullions. If the surface of doors and windows is stained with oil, it should be washed with water-soluble pigmentum, and do not scrub with rough or corrosive chemical liquid.
