What Is the Cause of Window Glass Dew!

Every winter, when you get up in the morning, you can often find a thin layer of water mist on the window, which may even form drops of water if it is more serious. These water drops are often difficult to completely erase, and sometimes they will drip to the windowsill when condensed together, forming "a beach of ocean". This phenomenon is usually called condensation of doors and windows, which is a common problem on doors and windows.

How does dew on doors and windows appear? If there is condensation in doors and windows at home, how can we quickly locate and solve it?

Cause of condensation

The basic principle of door and window condensation is that the water vapor in the air condenses and liquors when it is cold. There is a certain temperature difference between indoor and outdoor in winter, especially at night, people usually close the doors and windows when they rest, and there is no sunshine outside. Indoor heating is usually carried out properly, and the temperature difference is further plus-sized, the indoor warm air condenses on the cold glass.

How to avoid condensation

With the development of door and window technology, people have gradually explored a set of effective solutions to avoid condensation of doors and windows. The core principle is to solve the cause of condensate from the source-the temperature difference between air and glass.

Hollow glass design is often used in system doors and windows. The hollow glass has built-in molecular sieve desiccant, which can absorb the moisture of the hollow layer. On the one hand, dry air can reduce the thermal conductivity of the air, and on the other hand, avoid condensation water inside the hollow glass.

Combined with the excellent sealing and thermal insulation of system doors and windows, the glass on both sides of indoor and outdoor is at different temperatures and does not interfere with each other, and will not form a large temperature difference with the air on their respective sides, therefore, the occurrence probability of glass condensation phenomenon is greatly reduced.

How to troubleshoot the causes of dew on doors and windows at home

Glass

If the doors and windows at home use ordinary single-layer glass, the temperature changes inside and outside the house can easily react on the glass, and condensation is difficult to avoid.

It is suggested to replace the system doors and windows as soon as possible to avoid glass condensation affecting the quality of life. At the same time, before replacement, it is recommended to place a towel with strong water absorption at the bottom of doors and windows to avoid condensation water dripping and damaging furniture, and always check and replace the towel.

If the system doors and windows have been used in the home, condensation still occurs, you can check according to the place where the condensate is located. If the condensed water appears in the middle of the insulating glass, it means that the performance of the insulating glass is invalid, and the glass needs to be replaced in time; If the condensed water appears in the indoor side, it needs to continue the investigation.

Sealant strip

System doors and windows usually adopt ethylene-propylene diene copolymer rubber strip for effective sealing treatment. It has good wear resistance and elasticity, and closing doors and windows can achieve excellent air tightness.

Non-standard sealing of adhesive strips and poor quality of adhesive strips will lead to the failure of air tightness of system doors and windows. Temperature imbalance will be realized in the local range of doors and windows, and then air condensation will occur due to excessive temperature difference.

Heat insulation strip

The heat insulation strip is applied between the profiles of the system doors and windows and plays the role of "breaking the Bridge", that is, blocking the conduction of temperature difference through the metal window frame.

Inferior heat insulation strip not only has poor heat insulation performance, but also its mechanical performance often cannot match the aluminum profile, which is prone to problems such as unstable connection and water leakage. Unqualified heat insulation strip will cause the thermal insulation performance of system doors and windows to be greatly reduced, which cannot provide necessary conditions for stable temperature difference on both sides of insulating glass.

A brief summary is as follows:

If system doors and windows are not used at home, it is recommended to replace them with qualified system doors and windows as soon as possible;

If system doors and windows have been used at home, reasonable maintenance or after-sales treatment is recommended.
